Float Switch Troubleshooting Steps

Applicable Models: Explorer V190

Note: Since we will be testing the float switch functions, the dehumidifier needs to remain plugged in and turned on during these steps. Please proceed carefully and avoid touching any exposed electrical components.

1. Remove the Rear Cover: Unscrew the four screws on the back of the dehumidifier (as shown in the image below) and remove the rear cover.

2. Locate the Water Reservoir: Find the water reservoir as illustrated in the image below.

3. Find the Float Switches: You will find two float switches attached to the water reservoir—one positioned lower and the other higher (as shown in the image below).

4. Test the Lower Float Switch: Lift the lower float switch for about 10 seconds. Check whether:

  • The water pump starts running
  • The Draining icon lights up on the control panel

If both conditions are met, the lower float switch is functioning properly.

5. Test the Higher Float Switch: Lift the higher float switch for about 20 seconds. Check whether:

  • The Water Full icon lights up on the control panel
  • The dehumidifier stops running

If both conditions are met, the higher float switch is functioning correctly.

6. Wiggle Both Float Switches: The float switches may occasionally become stuck. Gently move each switch up and down several times to confirm they can move freely.

7. Add Water to the Water Reservoir: Pour approximately 33 fl oz of water into the pump water reservoir (as shown in the image below).

8. Reinstall and Test: Reinstall the rear cover. Allow the dehumidifier to run for a while and verify whether the pump drains water automatically.

Note: The pump is activated only when the water level reaches a certain point, causing the lower float switch to rise to its highest position.
